The Former Chairman of the Sri Lanka Bar Association President’s Counsel U.R. de Silva says Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake who was sentenced to a four-year rigorous imprisonment on charges of Contempt of Court by the Supreme Court, will lose his Parliamentary seat. The President’s Counsel said the MP will not be able to attend Parliament sessions unless he receives a Presidential Pardon. While MP Ramanayake will lose his seat in Parliament, he will also lose his right to vote for a period of seven years from the day he completes his prison sentence.
