Valuation reports are now being prepared to pay compensation for the damages occurred by inclement weather.

Minister Duminda Dissanayake informed the secretaries of ministries to immediately submit the valuation reports on the damages of houses , bridges and roads. Compensation will be paid for the families who have been affected by the floods. All Grama Niladaries in the affected areas will be provided with an allowance of 500 rupees for telephone charges. A permanent programme will be implemented for thousand families who are frequently affected by floods n Kelaniya area. Minister Dissanayake added that the government has released required funds for relief activities and ready to release more funds, if needed. A maximum amount of 2.5 million rupees will be paid as compensation for each damaged house. Compensations will be paid soon after the valuation reports are ready. Until then an interim allowance of 10,000 rupees is already being paid for the affected families. A sum of 40 million rupees has been set aside for this purpose, for the entire 20 districts affected by inclement weather.
