Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe says a huge development will be carried out within next 18 months in rural areas. A sum of 80 billion rupees has been allocated for this purpose. The premier made these remarks at a ceremony held in the Temple Trees last morning to distribute appointment letters to newly recruited 1650 grama niladaries. The premier further said that all ministers, have been instructed to work collectively to make all these development programmes a success.
Participating in the ceremony minister Vajira Abeywardhana said that 500 more Grama nialadaries will be recruited in future. A service policy for Grama- Niladaries is being prepared at present.Addressing the gathering,deputy Minsiter J.C.Alawathuwela said, the support of the Grama Niladaries is essential to carry forward the government’s development move
