Regulation on the Minimum Age pertaining to EPF will be presented in Parliament

The regulation pertaining to increase the minimum age for contribution to the Employees Provident Fund from 14 to 16 years was considered in the Ministerial Consultative Committee on Labor held in Parliament. An Extraordinary Gazette Notification has been issued in this regard and it was agreed to submit the regulation regarding the amendment to Parliament for approval in the coming days.

The Ministerial Consultative Committee on Labour met Wednesday under the chairmanship of the Minister of Labor Nimal Siripala de Silva. This regulation has been issued in line with the amendment which was passed in Parliament recently in order to increase the minimum working age from 14 to 16 years.
