Sri Lankan government is ready to face the alleged human rights allegations against Sri Lanka. A committee has been appointed in this regard. It comprises a senior government officials and experts. They will report the President and the Foreign Minister in this regard. The committee will take actions to express the real situation in the country and counter the false accusations against the country.
Minister Udaya Gammanpila says that most of the countries in the world are unitary states. Many countries do not have devolution of power like Provincial Councils in Sri Lanka. Some countries have war situations, but United Nations Human Rights Council does not inform those countries to any power devolution. Miniter Gammanpila questioned why UNHRC targeting only Sri Lanka in this regard. Addressing a press briefing held in Colombo yesterday, the minister said that the Allegations against Sri Lanka are baseless. The commission has overridden its capacities and their scope when preparing this report. The Minister added that the government’s decision to reject the report is commendable.
