The government decides to purchase paddy from the harvest of Maha Season

The Cabinet of Ministers has given the approval to purchase paddy from local farmers at competitive with the private sector with a view to receive a highest price for the farmers under the rice purchasing program for Maha Season of 2020-2021.

 

It was also decided to maintain the price of Nadu at  98 rupees  per kilogram in the future, without any changes despite paddy being purchased at a higher price.

He explained that private rice mill owners purchase paddy from farmers at  52 rupees when the government decided to make the purchase at 50 rupees.

 

Minister Keheliya Rambukwella has emphasised at the cabinet media briefing held today that  the fertilizer subsidy given to the farmers will not be cut at any means
