The Attorney General directs the IGP to investigate the five suspects named in the final Report of the PCoI

The Attorney General Dappula de Livera has directed the Inspector-General of Police to investigate five suspects who were mentioned in the final Report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry probing the Easter Sunday Terror Attacks that took place on April 21, 2019. Coordinating Officer to the Attorney General State Counsel Nishara Jayaratne said that the Attorney General briefed His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith about the progress of the legal matters and investigations pertaining to the Easter Sunday attacks at a meeting held on Monday.
The Coordinating Officer to the Attorney General further said a special team of 12 legal officers of the Attorney General’s Department has been assigned to study the recordings of evidence in the PCoI final report. She added that investigations of the Criminal Investigation Department must be completed and all evidence recorded by the PCoI must be studied by the Attorney General before serving indictments against all those who were responsible for the Easter Sunday attacks.
