Restoration work is underway following the damage caused by heavy rains in several districts. Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippili says the fisheries and maritime communities should keep a watch on the warning of rising sea waves along the line between Panadura and Hambantota.

He also says the security forces are helping in the clearance of the Akurana area that was flooded yesterday night. Motorists are requested to avoid the Akurana town which is experiencing heavy traffic congestion, and use the road via Wattegama, to Matale instead.
