The Consumer Affairs Authority has published an extraordinary gazette banning blending of edible coconut oil with any other oils. Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority retired Major General Shantha Dissanayake said the direction is effective from yesterday. Accordingly, all importers, refiners, manufacturers, packers, distributors and traders of edible coconut oil sold in bulk or retail in bottles, packs and containers are banned from blending them with other oils.
