The government looks into possibilities of recovering EPF money invested in unprofitable ventures

Minister Ravindra Samaraweera says that the previous government has invested employees provident fund in unprofitable ventures.  He said that discussions are being held with the Treasury to look into the possibility of recovering the funds.

The minister said this to journalists following the inauguration ceremony of the national vocational safety health conference in Colombo.   He said that EPF should be invested in profitable ventures with the supervision of the central bank and with the agreement of employees and trade union.
