It has been decided that a limited number of people will be permitted this year to attend the annual July Festival of the Madhu Shrine in Mannar. Accordingly, only 30 people will be allowed to take part in the 2nd July festival. Those from other districts cannot attend the festival. The decision was taken during a discussion about the festival chaired by Mannar District Secretary A. Sranli Dimel. Bishop of Mannar Rev.Dr. Emmanuel Fernando, Madhu Shrine administrator Rev.Fr. Papi Sosai, health and department officials were present. The annual July Festival of Madhu Shrine begins with the hoisting of the flag on the 23rd of June.
