More than 23,000 persons are affected in the Galle, Kalutara and Galle districts by the inclement weather. Three relief centers are housing over 60 affected persons. The National Disaster Relief Services Centre says five deaths have also been reported. More than 300 business places and homes have been damaged.
Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Centre advices residents of areas prone to earth slips and floods to remain vigilant. An earth slip warning has been issued for Kegalle, Badulla, Galle and Kalutara districts. Water levels of the rivers are receding as there was no significant rainfall in the past 12 hours.
