The annual Esala festival of the historic Kataragama Maha Devalaya begins tomorrow. Basnayake Nilame Dishan Gunasekara says that all arrangements have been finalised for the festival. The final perahera will parade the streets on the Esala full moon poya day 23rd of this month. The festival will conclude following the water cutting rituals at the Menik Ganga on the following morning. Basnayake Nilame further said that visitors are not allow to watch the perahera due to health reasons and he request the devotees not to gather at Kataragama town this this perahera season.
