Minister Dr Rajitha Senarathne says, the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation has earned a considerable revenue. Speaking to the Subharathee Discussion Programme aired over the SLBC this morning, the Minister said, making the Senaka Bibile Pharmaceuticals Policy a reality, the manufacturing of high quality drugs, is now taking place in the country.
Out of 525 essential drugs, the price of 73 drugs has been controlled.
Joining in the discussion, Consultant Dr. Lal Panapitiya of the Medical Supplies Division said, measures are inforce to liaise directly with the directors of Hospitals to ensure pharmaceuticals are distributed without shortage. Now, the private sector has also focused on manufacturing pharmaceuticals locally. He added, steps have been taken to manufacture one fourth of the pharmaceuticals required for the country
