Media Sources of the President emphasize, the President has not made any reference to an ‘alleged conspiracy by Indian Intelligence Agents to assassinate him’. The President’s Media Division has issued this statement, reflecting on various media reports appearing in local and foreign media, about details regarding an ‘Indian Intelligent Service’, at yesterday’s Cabinet Meeting. When the alleged ‘assassination plot’ was taken up for discussion at the Cabinet Meeting, the President emphasized the need to conduct a thorough investigation into it.

Subsequent to various media reports, the Indian High Commissioner met with the President this morning.
The present government from its inception has maintained highly cordial relations between Sri Lanka and India, resulting in a number of high level diplomatic visits, which have brought about cooperation in many fields.
At the discussion, it was assured that bilateral relations will continue, at an utmost progressive level.

The Release further states, it is disappointing to note such distortions promulgated, aimed at undermining the peaceful relations between the two countries and their leaders.
