MP S.B. Dissanayaka says the swearing-in of several cabinet ministers will take place tomorrow. Speaking to journalists in Colombo, he also said that an interim proposal of expenditure will be tabled in Parliament on November 16th.
The parliamentarian said that Parliament has been prorogued to allow time for the preparation of the proposal. He also said that the presidency and premiership both were now being held by strong personalities.
MP Dissanayaka said further that the government that would be formed shortly will be free of corruption or fraud and would not abuse power. He noted that wrongdoing was rampant during the previous regime which also witnessed a conspiracy to assassinate the President.
Also speaking at the news briefing, MP Dilan Perera said the president took a most difficult and important political decision while acting within the constitution. He invited all parties to join hands with the new political force.
MP Thilanga Sumathipala said the combination of the incumbent president and the prime minister would be the key to the resolution of the country’s burning issues. He added that the previous administration was weak and could not bring in any foreign investments.
