Minister S.B.Dissanayake says that the government hopes the Speaker would act independently according to Parliamentary Standing orders when it meets on next Wednesday.

The government has no problem with showing a majority. During a Media Briefing in Colombo today, he said that, the Government will show its power to the country on Wednesday.

The Provincial Council Election will be held soon.

He said that , a broad alliance would be formed with Sri Lanka Freedom Party, Podu Jana Eksath Peramuna, Samasamaja Party , Communist Party and with the parties of Mr.Douglas Devannada and Mr.Wimal Weerawansa. He said that, the next Presidential candidate would be decided by that alliance.
