International Trade and Investment Promotion minister Bandula Gunawardhana says that an accelerated programme will be implemented to increase local and foreign investments. Steps will be taken to provide state financial assistance to businessmen and inventors by a amending tax policies.
During a media briefing today in Colombo he said that, attention would be paid for an economic policy which strengthens the local business men and protecting national assets . Although there was a strong protest against the Singapore Free Trade Agreement, the previous government ignored it. The next steps will be taken after studying the agreement , according to the Prof. W.W.D.Lakshman Commission report appointed by the President and the judgement of the Supreme Court.
Minister Bandula Gunawardhana said that, he instructed the Secretary to obtain a report from the Customs about the goods that have been imported under concessionary terms according to the agreement.
