More than 20,000 people belonging to 5700 families have been affected by rains in the Batticaloa district. Steps have been taken to provide relief to them. 560 families have been provided with temporary shelters at different places. Some roads have been flooded.

The Batticaloa district experienced heavy rainfall during the last few days. Dry rations and other basic facilities have been provided to the affected people. The Disaster Management Center has taken effective measures to provide basic facilities to all who have been affected due to adverse weather condition in the eastern province.
