Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa says that he took up the premier post to establish a new government to stop the country being eroded by the previous government. The premier also said the resources of the country were sold out by the previous government.

Had he waited for some times, the people will not have a country to live, the premier added. The previous government has destroyed all important infrastructure and assets due to mishandling, fraud and corruptive activities. The premier also emphasized the importance of safeguarding the country for the benefit of the future generation.

He further said his decision will be well justified by the general public. The premier made these remarks at a book launch held in Colombo. The Book titled Sri Lanka’s three years economy growth and downfall written by Dr. Bandula Gunawardena.

Addressing the gathering Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawadena said the previous UNP government has cut down many welfare programmes of the general public and exerted pressure on common man with loads of taxes since 2015. The tax burden on the common man made his life miserable.

The Minister also emphasized that the best solution to solve this political tussle is to dissolve the parliament and conduct a general election to find the peoples’ verdict. Many dignitaries including Prof. G.L Peiris, Ministers and Parliamentarians were present at this occasion.
