The Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has taken measures to increase salaries of all employees of Sri Lanka Transport Board after 6 years. Although, the Finance Ministry informed to increase the salaries of employees who are receiving lower wages, it could not be fulfilled due to financial difficulties existed at the Board.
But, due to the new financial administrative system they will be able to increase the salaries of employees by enhancing the service. Accordingly, salaries of drivers, conductors, technicians, labours and security officials will be increased. The basic salary of 14 thousand 250 rupees will be increased to 25,550 rupees. 150 employees received the new salaries symbolically by the Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva at his ministry today.
