The parliament will meet today at 10.00 am. Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will make a special statement in parliament today. The parliament will be convened under the chairmanship of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya


The government has decided to reject the Letter of the Speaker in connection with the No-Confidence motion.

Speaking at a media briefing last evening, minister Susil Premajayantha said that the alleged no-confidence motion passed in parliament yesterday is against the constitution, parliamentary traditions and standing orders. Therefore, the minister said the cabinet led by Prime minister Mahinda Rajapakse will attend parliamentary traditions from today and would take decisions on the development of the country.

Expressing his views at this occasion, minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said that, the prevailing constitutional crisis can be solved by holding a general election.

All government ministers who attended the media briefing said that, they would take decisions in future giving priority for the development of the country.
