The Government Medical Officers Association says former Health Minister Rajitha Senarathne devalued the Sri Lanka Medical Council. Assistant Secretary to the Association Dr. Naveen De Soyza said that the former Health Minister arbitrarily violated Medical Council Act. He said that the primary responsibility of a Health Minister is to safeguard the Medical Council and the Medical Act which protects the rights of the patients.
Expressing his views on the occasion Secretary to the Association Dr. Haritha Aluthge said that they would give their fullest support to the new Health Minister to make changes that suits the present times. He welcomed the steps taken by the President to appoint a new government. He pointed out the need to establish a national trade policy by suspending international trade agreement.
