Sri Lanka’s largest orange cultivation zone will be established in Bibile

Sri Lanka’s largest orange cultivation zone will be established in Bibile in the Monaragala district on Monday. Minister Mahinda Amaraweera will participate as the chief guest of the event. 85,000 orange plants named ‘sweets’ are to be cultivated in 2200 acres of land in the cultivation zone in Bibile.

It is expected to harvest 150,000 kilogram of orange during the first year. The private sector has already come forward to purchase the harvest. The minister has advised the postharvest technical institute to pay attention on the export of orange.
