Minister of Education Wijedasa Rajapaksa says that school admission has become a major problem due to the parents’ attitude. Many parents think that Nationals schools are the best school for their children. Speaking at a seminar held at the Ministry Auditorium this morning, the Minister said that quality educational opportunities should be provided to all school children in the country with the support of provincial educational authorities. The Minister added that he will not take any decision regarding the future of the children with a political perspective. The minister went on to say that the mental stress of many present day children has become a problem. He stressed that the parents and teachers are responsible for this scenario. He says that parents send children to the tuition classes when there is a free educational system in the country. Senior students rag the junior students instead of welcoming them. He questioned, as to how the educational system could be changed for better with this kind of a situation.
