The SLPP accuses that the UNP prefers to postpone elections

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna accuses that the United National Party prefers to postpone elections. Addressing a press briefing held in Battaramulla yesterday parliamentarian D.V Chanaka said that the UNP control the local government bodies through secretaries for a number of years without holding elections.

UNP has no excuse to go before the people. Joining the press briefing MP Shehan Semasinghe said that in a future UNP government they would appoint Arjun Mahendran as the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance.
