The Supreme court hears the petitions filed against the restraining order given by the appeal court.

The appeal filed against the interim order issued by the Court of Appeal restraining Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa from holding office of Prime Minister and his Cabinet from functioning, is now being heard at the Supreme Court.
The case is heard before a three judge bench of justices Eva Wanasundara, Buweneka Alu Viharre and Vijith K. Malalgoda. After considering the motion filed by the United National Party, the Supreme court decided to hear the case before a three judge bench. The United National Party motion requested for a five judge bench. Before the hearing the case justice Eva Wanasundara said that she gives verdicts based on the legal points but not according to the personalities. The three judge bench has decided to consider the case as a special matter.
