New Year will usher in joy and prosperity – President

Another New Year was dawned today with more expectation of peace and harmony. All necessary arrangements are being made to conduct religious observances of different faiths. The people of the country are getting ready to step into another year with more expectations of prosperity. The government expects to provide more relief to the general public in the New year.

Releasing a greeting message President Maithripala Sirisena said New Year will usher in joy and prosperity. The President further said that the year 2019 should be a broad future pathway with a clear perception to achieve discipline, reconciliation and prosperity. The President wishes that 2019 will bring prosperity and joy, fulfilling the wishes of the dear people of Sri Lanka.

The dawn of the New Year is an occasion to recollect our achievements and failures as well as gains and losses in the year that ended.

Through retrospection, a person could make the future path of life fruitful and free of malice.

The message also stated that without merely being proud of our rich heritage that includes major irrigational achievements of miraculous magnitude, and should take the country’s irrigational civilization to a new meaningful height.
