Former DIG: Nalaka De Silva, who was arrested by the CID in connection with an alleged assassination plot targeting the President and Former Defence Secretary, has been further remanded until January 16th. The Indian national who was arrested in connection with the investigations into the complaint was also ordered remanded until January 16. This order was given by Colombo Fort Magistrate: Ranga Dissanayake, today. The CID informed Court, 427 conversations, 4,323 photographs, and 26 videos that were deleted from the mobile phone belonging to Director of the Anti-Corruption Force: Namal Kumara have been retrieved. The Court instructed the CID to expedite the investigatory process.
Meanwhile, it has been revealed, Director of the Anti-Corruption Force: Namal Kumara had allegedly submitted forged certificates to join the Sri Lanka Air Force.
The Criminal Investigation Department has informed Court that investigations have commenced in this regard.
Namal Kumara, in September last year had uncovered the alleged telephone conversations between himself and the DIG of the Terrorism Investigation Department Nalaka De Silva, regarding a conspiracy to assassinate President Maithripala Sirisena and Former Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
The CID subsequently commenced investigations into the alleged conspiracy, and has recorded statements from both Namal Kumara and the former DIG, on multiple occasions.
