Indian Congress President Rahul Gandhi has accused Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman of having “lied” in Parliament. His accusation relates to claims that government orders worth one lakh crore Indian rupees were provided to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited in a fighter jet deal with France.

Ghandhi demanded that the minister should either place the documents in support of her statement in the House, or resign. However, as the Lok Sabha record shows, Ms. Sitharaman did not claim the orders were signed, saying they were in the works.
