Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam says an expert independent committee will be appointed to regulate the education activities of international schools. He made these comments at a media conference held in Colombo yesterday. Addressing the media personnel, the Minister further said that the government has the authority through the constitution to regulate the educational activities of the country.

Right to education is a human right. The Minister also stated any entity or individual or group cannot dictate terms on education activities of state, private or international education curricula. However, the government has the sole authority to monitor and regulate the education activities of international schools.
