New plant quarantine regulations will be introduced to curb the ‘Sena’ caterpillar infestation

The plant quarantine act will be amended in the coming week to provide for measures to curb the ‘Sena’ caterpillar infestation. Additional Director of the National Animal Quarantine Service Dr. Thushara Wickramaarachchi says a draft with amendments will be submitted for cabinet approval.

According to him, new regulations will bind every citizen to the drive to curb the ‘Sena’ infestation. He says that the caterpillar has been brought under control in the maize cultivations in the Western Province.
