President Maithripala Sirisena says, those who insult the programme on Drug Prevention, are those who are part of the programme itself!
Participating in the Matara District Conference of the ‘Mathin Nidahas Ratak’ National Drug Prevention Programme this morning, the President said, drug traffickers appear in various disguises, therefore, it is not easy to identify and track them.
The President further stated, a number of special programmes will be launched within the next few months, further strengthening the programmes launched so far to curb drug abuse.
In addition, the President also stated, in the present context, various forces are instrumental acting against the philosophy of Therawada Buddhism. He points out, some are attempting to portray a distorted version of the Buddhist Philosophy. He emphasized, as much as plots to destroy cultural heritages are “organized conspiracies”, the drug menace is also a plot to destroy the country.
The President said, he will fulfil his responsibility, in bringing this situation under control, by taking stern decisions.
