The Premier emphasizes, there will be no room, for weapons to be shipped into the country

Parliament convened at 1.00pm today, chaired by Speaker Karu Jayasooriya.
Speaking in Parliament today, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe said, the government is giving high priority to address the Human Elephant Conflict. Thereby, in 17 districts, a network of electric fences has been constructed, covering an area of 4,349 kilo meters. A cabinet paper has been tabled, to recruit staff, to carry-out the maintenance work of these fences.

Meanwhile, responding to a question raised about a ‘US Naval Base’ in the country, the Premier said, the country has the capacity to provide services for any naval vessel.
This is common for American vessels, as well.
However, the Premier emphasized, there will be no room left, for weapons to be shipped into the country.
