Archeological sites in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa will be made polythene free zones

The Ministry of Housing Construction and Cultural Affairs has focus attention to maintain several identified archaeological sites as polythene free zones.

A special operational committee has been appointed to study this proposal. Secretary to the Ministry Bernard Wasantha says that accordingly, archaeological sites in Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa urban areas will be made polythene free areas soon. The Ministry has already has declared Sigiriya area as a polythene free site.
