President Maithripala Sirisena says if there is any illegal alcohol rackets prevalent in any area, the sole responsibility should be taken by the relevant OIC and the Senior Superintendent of Police in-charge of the relevant area.
He made this remark while participating in a programme at the irrigational playground in Polonnaruwa New Town last evening. He said a programme will be carried out in future to wipe out illegal drugs and alcohol completely from the country which is a prime cause to the increase of rural poor.
The President also said that new circular in this regard will be issued next week. The government has launched a programme to upgrade the economic situation of the poor people. He also emphasized that he will end his tenure of office, after taking measures to eradicate illegal drugs and alcohol completely.
