State Radio Awards ceremony will be held today at Nelum Pokuna Art Theatre under the patronage of the President and the Prime Minister. The ceremony will commence at 6.00 pm today. The broadcasting services of Sri Lanka complete 93 years this year.

It started way back on 16th December 1925. State Radio Awards Ceremony was held for the first time on 13th February 2017. That was held to mark the World Broadcasting Day. The main objective of this ceremony is to identify and honour the radio journalists and broadcasters who excelled during the year 2018.

Senior media personalities who have contributed immensely to the broadcasting service during the lifetime will receive the lifetime awards today. Accordingly, Kala Shuri Arundathi Sri Ranganathan and Nihal Bharathi will receive these prestige awards today.

The event is organised by Ministry of Cultural Affairs and Cultural Affairs Department. Sri Lanka Art Council, Advisory Board for State Radio and Jury have contributed effectively to make this event a success.
