President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed a committee to look into problems in the tea industry and to find solutions to them. The president has taken this decision during a discussion yesterday in connection with the wages issue of the workers in the tea industry. The committee includes Chief of the Staff of President’s staff H.M.P Hitisekara, Secretary to the Ministry of Plantation Industries J.A Ranjith, Secretary to the Ministry of Labour R.T.R Rajapakasa, Treasury Secretary Dr. R.H.S Samarathunga and Chairman of the Tea Board W.L.P Wijewardena. Lengthy discussions took place on problems related to tea exports.
