National Identity Cards for students sitting their GCE Ordinary Level Examination will be issued well in advance

The Commissioner General of the Department for the Registration of Persons: Viyani Gunathilake says, National Identity Cards for students sitting their GCE Ordinary Level Examination this year, will be issued well in advance.
Applications are now being accepted.
The Commissioner General requests school principals to forward the applications, before the 31st of March.

The photographs for the NICs need to be taken at a studio registered with the Department for the Registration of Persons. The photographs need to be submitted online.

Mr. Gunathilaka further states, since practical tests are to be held before the exam, having the NICs ready early, will be convenient to students.
He notes, this endevour was successful last year.

Students who have reached 15 years of age are able to apply for National Identity Cards.
