The President is focused on establishing a special high court to hear cases pertaining to drug related offences.
The President intends to take this matter up for discussion at the next cabinet meeting.
Speaking at a discussion held at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday on the draft bill to control drug abuse and related crimes, the President said, the lengthy time period it takes to hear drug related cases is an obstacle in controlling the drug menace.
Therefore, the attention is to establish a new court in the same complex of the existing Special High Court.
Meanwhile, a Drug Rehabilitation Authority is to be established under the guidance of the President, soon.
