Allocations made under the “Gamperaliya” Rural Development Programme, for the renovation of religious sites

State Minister of National Policies and Economic Affairs: Niroshan Perera says, under the “Gamperaliya” Rural Development Programme, this year, for the renovation of religious sites, the government has allocated 48,000 million rupees.

Speaking at a ceremony organized at the Wennappuwa – Murukkuliya Buddhist Centre, to declare open a number of completed development projects, the Minister said, the objective is to strengthen religious institutions, to empower them to be able to challenge the various vices in society.

This year, under the “Gamperaliya” Programme, 13 Buddhist religious sites, eleven catholic churches, two kovils and a mosque will be developed in the Wennappuwa electorate.
