Joko Widodo maintains lead in Indonesia presidential race

The latest opinion polls show, Indonesia’s incumbent president Joko Widodo still leads his election rival, former military leader Prabowo Subianto, but the gap has been shrinking.

The economy and measures to deal with poverty were among the key issues hotly debated during the campaign.
The latest surveys show Joko with about 50 percent support, but some pollsters indicate his contender is closing the gap.
The outcome of the election is expected to be announced by the 22nd of May.
