United National party and several other parties cancel their May Day Rallies.

The United National Party May Day Rally has been cancelled. It was to be held at the Colombo Municipal Council Grounds. General Secretary of the UNP Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said that the rally was cancelled considering the situation in the country. Meanwhile, Minister Palani Digambaram said that the May Day Rally and procession jointly organized by the Workers National Front, National Workers Union and Tamil Progressive Alliance has been cancelled. It was scheduled to be held at Thalawakele Urban Council Grounds. Parliamentarian Arumugam Thondaman said that the May Day Rally of the Ceylon Workers Congress which was scheduled to be held at Nuwara Eliya Urban Council Ground was also cancelled.
