Parliamentarian Nimal Siripala De Silva says that a Security Act is needed to ensure national security. A legal framework to introduce the Act is now being prepared. During a media briefing at the SLFP headquarters today the parliamentarian said that it would be prepared after studying legal framework of other countries. The security forces have the ability and the strength to establish peace in the country. Therefore, he said that steps should be taken to win the confidence of the Muslim community without trying to get political benefits.
Taking part in the media briefing MP Dayasiri Jayasekara said that extremist groups are working against the traditional Islam teachings. MP Weerakumara Dissanayaka said that measures should be taken to enhance co-existence between Sinhala, Tamil and Muslim communities.
