Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority Kishu Gomes says that steps will be taken to develop the tourism Industry as it was earlier. Accordingly, special announcement will be made next week targeting the tourism sector globally. The aim of this move is to build up security in the country and confidence of tourists towards Sri Lanka. All global Public Relations Bodies will be connected to this programme. At a press briefing held in Colombo today, he said over 2.3 million tourists visited the Island last year providing an income of over 4 billion US dollars. However, the tourism sector has faced about 80 per cent setback following the Easter Sunday Attack. He said that it is expected to reduce it in considerable amount by attracting tourists. The security forces are taking measures to ensure security of the country. He requested the support of everyone to restore the tourism industry as it was before.
