The Mahanayakes of four chapters requests not to conduct Wesak Festivals gathering people

The Mahanayake of four chapters have requested public not to conduct external celebrations in connection with Wesak Full Poya Day due to the present security situation in the country.

Issuing a joint statement, the Mahanayake of Malwathu chapter most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera, the Mahanayake of Asgiri chapter Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Ganarathana Thera, the Mahanayake of Amarapura Maha Nikaya most venerable Kotugoda Dhammawasa Thera and the Mahanayake of Ramanna Maha Nikaya most Venerable Napana Pemasiri say that the fundamental aim of celebrating the Wesak Full Moon Poya Day should be to wish for mental happiness for Sri Lankans affected by Easter Sunday terrorist attacks.

The joint statement states that priority should be given for spiritual values leaving out external functions. The Mahanayakes have requested to give priority for the advice given by security authorities and for public safety in organizing all Buddhist functions.
