Minister Vajira Abeywardena says the National Wesak Festival will be held as planned. During a meeting at the Ministry of Buddhasasana he said that the National Wesak Festival will not be cancelled under any circumstances. The National Wesak Festival will be held at Hikkaduwa, Thotagamuwa Ranpath Viharaya. Renovations to the temple are underway at present. The Minister said that the security of the Galle district has been ensured. He further said that island wide religious programmes will be conducted to coincide with the National Wesak Festival.
- Services will be conducted at Archdioceses according to the decisions of the relevant Catholic Bishops.
