The Buddhists in the country are getting ready for the Wesak celebration from Saturday on wards. The Maha Sangha have requested the Buddhists to celebrate Vesak focusing on Prathipaththti Pooja.
The National Vesak Festival will be held tomorrow and Day After at the Thotagamu Ranpath Rajamaha Viharaya. The inaugural ceremony of the festival will be held tomorrow afternoon under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena with the participation of ministers and parliamentarians. The President will declare the Thotagamuwa Ranpath Rajamaha Viharaya as a sacred area. Financial grants will be awarded at this function for the development of 85 Dhamma schools and temples in the Galle district. The 2nd day’s event will be inaugurated under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremasinghe. A first day cover and a stamp will be released by the postal department to mark this day.
