A proposal has been made to allow media to observe the activities of the select committee appointed to look into 21st April incidents

Minister Lakshman Kiriella says that media should be given the opportunity to observe the activities of the select committee appointed to look into the April 21st incidents.

Expressing his views after the meeting in parliament the Minister said that he hopes to present the proposal to the Speaker. Speaker Karu Jayasuriya said in parliament today that a select committee headed by Deputy Speaker Ananda Kumarasiri was appointed to look into the incidents occurred on 21st April.

Ministers Rauf Hakeem, Ravi Karunanayake, MPs Sarath Fonseka, Jayampathi Wickramarathne, Ashu Marasinghe, Kavinda Jayawardena and M.A Sumanthiran are members of the committee. Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesighe has requested to provide and internal report of the select committee within two weeks.
