In an interview before leaving for the G20 Summit, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said Liberalism is “obsolete”.
The Russian President says, the ideology that has underpinned Western democracies for decades had “outlived its purpose”.

Meanwhile, EU President Donald Tusk lashed out at Mr Putin, telling reporters that he strongly disagreed with Putin’s sentiments on Liberalism.
Mr Tusk said, whoever claims that liberal democracy is ‘obsolete’, also claims that Freedoms are ‘obsolete’, that the Rule of Law is ‘obsolete’, and that Human Rights are ‘obsolete’.
Tusk further stated, what he finds really obsolete are:-
Authoritarianism!,
Personality cults!,
and
The rule of oligarchs!,
even if sometimes these may ‘appear’ to be effective.
